Types of window slopes: advantages and disadvantages
Three types of window slopes are most common: plaster, plasterboard and plastic.
Stucco slopes
It consists in the fact that several layers of plaster are applied to the wall, then primers, and only then the slope is painted. This method is laborious, inconvenient and dirty.
The plaster is applied in several layers, and before applying the next layer, you must wait until the previous one dries.
In addition, it is impossible to connect the plaster with a plastic window so that sooner or later a gap does not appear. And the gap is a deterioration in the sound-proof and heat-insulating qualities of the window, which are already far from being up to par when using plaster slopes.
And also - the ubiquitous mold and the inevitable condensate. These unpleasant "guests" will appear due to temperature differences. So you should forget about the slopes of the plaster. Even the facts that they are cheap, that you can install them yourself, cannot outweigh the arguments against.
Drywall slopes
This is a type of slopes that you can also do yourself, but on condition that you have professional skills. Here you have to work hard, since the installation of such slopes will require puttying, priming, painting. You can’t do without a material that provides thermal insulation; most likely, you will have to use foam.
Most drywall is afraid of moisture. Therefore, in the kitchen, such slopes are contraindicated.
In general, this method is more "civilized" than the "plaster" method, but the result will be far from perfect. The main disadvantages of drywall: fear of moisture and the need to periodically tint it.
Plastic slopes
They are undoubtedly the most practical, high-quality and durable of all. Their advantages include:
- due to the use of mineral wool, exceptional thermal insulation performance is achieved;
- durability of slopes;
- the possibility of complete visual compliance with the window profile; durability;
- resistance to various kinds of influences;
- ease of care, no need to paint slopes;
- strength.
The disadvantages of plastic slopes can only be attributed to their cost. It is an order of magnitude higher than the cost of slopes from putty or drywall.
And most importantly - when ordering windows, you will not have to additionally worry about the installation of slopes made of plastic! Our managers will remind you about them, and professional craftsmen will install the slopes along with your new windows.
